Battania has more varied infantry, they have the obvious melee/spearman line, the "Kern," line, and the Falxmen line. Sturgia gets their super heavy Shock Trooper and Veteran Infantry which are at the end of their line. IMO Battania is one of the best factions in the game, easily number 2 behind the Kkan's.

On a personal point, I also like Battania more, but that could be because the first time I played this game, I went with them, so the nostalgia might be there.
