This flow testing all got started with a friend of my brothers wondering how good his dove heads were. I have had all the fixturing and stuff for the sf-600 for a while now, but just hadn't gotten around to doing any testing. So here goes. Stock dove with stock type replacement sbi valve, 1/2 radius flow guide, 4.625 bore, 28 inches h2o. .1 67.2.

If you are running the Dove-C standard exhaust port headers it will hurt you a little. If it is both you are probably loosing a good chunk of power off the new heads. If this is the case the header would be the first place to start imo. Up for sale is a pair of DOVE-C heads for a ford 429 or 460.They are in decent USED shape and I would recommend rebuilding them but that is up to you. They have light surface rust and some dust and grime on them.

Would there be any improvement by just opening the seats up and installing 2.19 intake and 1.76 exhaust valves in a set of DOVE heads or would just installing the larger valves hurt performance. Any thoughts? Dove's heads are mainly aimed at NHRA class racers. They start around $1800.00 for bare heads. You can expect these bare heads to have casting flaws and need machine work. Dove has none in stock typically and requires full payment in advance before they will build anything.
