I have done some searches on here and google but I may not be wording my question correctly. I know a 0411 from an Express with L31 will work, but can that be re-flashed to run the 97 ...

Going 6L look for a k2500 in the yards that was hooked to a 6.0 for the nv4500. New style 4L60E has 6 bolt and about 3/4" longer. New style 4L60E has removable bell housing found on 4.8/5.3. You will need a torque converter spacer if you use old style 4L60E with 4.8/5.3.The 4l80e bone stock will handle any abuse a stock 6.0 can throw at it. If not then L96 + 6Lxx tranny, the L96 and 6l90 will probably take more work to integrate, so it'll be more expensive. The 6l90 (or 80) would just be awesome in a gmt400.
