Us general series 3 5 drawer tool cart

I'd skip the 5-drawer and get a 29" cart and put a top on that. Drilling out the welds and rivets, etc. sounds like a lot more trouble than it is worth. Skipped all the way up to the 44”. I have a 29” top box on my 72. Really wanted the deeper top drawer. Of course, it would be a lot easier to just get a 4 drawer cart.
