I got the robe 4 times before finally getting the hat and boots, but it only took me a day and under 6 hours. It was probably 4 hours total if you don't include the 2+ hours I spent soloing and also farming zigazag. Waterworks gear the resist is global, meaning it protects you against all schools. Just my opinion. And yes, critical bonus has pretty much become obsolete with the release of Azteca although it does "get through" once in a blue moon.
