I can't find any info on this like year s of manufacture or production numbers. I know Winchester often made special runs for groups or distributors.Two weeks later at the gun show, everything that said Winchester on it had jumped $100 in asking price. The Marlin 39 series is a fine rifle, and in some respects possibly better than the 9422, but overall I will pick up the Winchester over the Marlin almost every time. 9422 Winchester from the factory wood should be ever so slightly proud where it meets any metal or butt plate. Uniform all the way around and not whop sided. The custom shop guns are almost perfectly uniform for proud.
