Last time they came down, they stayed at the Zota Beach Resort on Longboat Key before coming down to visit us. They loved it, with a Gulf view from their room, they paid much less than they had at Lido Beach Resort. There are fewer restaurant choices, but with Covid19, we only look for one safe place to eat.

The Zota is a minimalistic styled small scale beach resort. The hotel is clean, light and modern in appearance. We had a pool view room with two queen beds that was efficiently designed, but a tight space for our family of four. The ceiling in our room seemed noticeably low.
